Senate Majority Leader KY-R (soon to be Minority Leader) Mitch McConnell delivered quite the unexpected speech at the U.S. Capitol building during the Electoral College review on Jan 6, condemning his Republican colleagues, who were objecting to the results of the presidential election and claiming voter fraud. "If this election were overturned by mere allegations from the losing side, our democracy would enter a death spiral," he said. "We'll either hasten down a poisonous path where only the winners of an election actually accept the results or show we can still muster the patriotic courage that our forebears showed, not only in victory, but in defeat."
