2021 is looking up, at least when it comes to our culinary offerings. The Queen City is stacked with recent restaurant openings and tasty spots to look forward to. From Latin American-inspired brunch spots to a Hyde Park pizzeria, our taste buds have plenty to explore this year.

700 Fairfield Ave., Bellevue
The team behind Covington’s popular new brunch spot Cedar are opening their second Northern Kentucky restaurant in Bellevue’s former Fairfield Market space this spring. The eatery, like Cedar, will serve brunch, but this establishment will have a Latin American-inspired menu, featuring items like chilaquiles and Cubano sandwiches and a full cocktail menu.

Biscuits are this shop’s bread and butter. All Hail the Biscuit will feature breakfast and lunch dishes such as sandwiches, salads, and scratch-made buttermilk biscuits. The restaurant, owned by Pickles & Bones Barbecue’s Josh and Nicole House, was once just an occasional pop-up that had customers lined up around the block, but it has since reached its Kickstarter goal and plans to open sometime this fall.

The new spot offers a wide variety of both sea and land meats, including oyster flights and grilled Spanish octopus for shareables, plus entrees including stuffed sole, ribeye steak, shrimp gnocchi and pistachio and herb salmon. On the menu, you’ll find Southern-inspired entrees like the Bananas Foster pancakes, chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros, and the Southwest chop salad, made with an artisanal flair. The Winter Selections menu features Lobster City grits, croissant French toast, corned beef and Brussels hash, and the Carrot “Pan” cake stack. Another Broken Egg Cafe also offers a variety of signature cocktails including mimosas, Bloody Marys and spiked cold brews. This location will be the second in the Greater Cincinnati area, and fourth in Ohio.

The space was renovated before opening, with the addition of a second patio. Currently the indoor dining space is closed, guests are welcome to dine on their enclosed outdoor patio; inside will open in February. The menu mimics other Taste of Belgium bistros, with frequently changing "LTO" or limited-time offerings. They also offer a slew of rare Belgian beers and a bakery serving traditional Liege waffles to-go and other favorites.

Sauces range from sweet to spicy with options including Pineapple BBQ, Alabama Pickle, Ginger Teriyaki, Korean Fire or Nah Bruh XXX, available tossed with wings or on the side.
