Local artist Mark deJong, well-known for his wildly popular interactive art exhibit
Swing House, has transformed another Cincinnati home into a work of art, which he plans to rent starting Nov. 1.
The Paint House is located at 1555 Spring Lawn Ave. in Northside. The namesake of this particular project is derived from exploring the paint layer history throughout the home through a similar process seen in deJong's previous work at the Contemporary Arts Center.
In addition to paint exploration, the two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath home features art installations throughout such as countertops with "painterly compositions" made from reclaimed gym flooring, a circle/square sculpture made with materials from the replaced basement support beam, cored circles from the dining room and bathroom mounted as a grid in the living room, a "hand" box sculpture, flooring pieces made from materials found during demolition and a dried paint can installation.
Many pieces are reminiscent of work seen in deJong's Swing House basement display.
deJong will host a weekend-long open house event from 5-10 p.m. on Oct. 26 and noon-4 p.m. on Oct. 27.
