A stunning Midcentury Modern masterpiece just hit the market, nestled off of a quiet, wooded street in Clifton.
The home was built in 1956 and was designed by famed Cincinnati architect Ben Dombar, who is well-known throughout the Greater Cincinnati area and beyond for his modern creations that gracefully marry nature and home.
Ben Dombar and his brother Abrom, an artist and designer, were inspired by the works of Frank Lloyd Wright while studying at the Taliesin Fellowship. The brothers opened up their own practice in Cincinnati and designed over 1,000 homes, churches, apartments, factories, synagogues and more together, according to an article by Curbed, though they worked on many of their own projects individually.
Ben even oversaw construction on Frank Lloyd Wright's local Boulter House in the late '50s while Wright worked on the Guggenheim in New York City, and assisted with several other Wright-designed "Usonians" in Wisconsin.
"The Dombars’ signature elements includes butterfly roofs and lots of symmetry and glass. Every site, even the ones declared unbuildable, were a chance to 'frame nature,' " an excerpt from the Curbed article reads.
One of Ben's notable works was his hexagon house in Wyoming, Ohio, in which he and his wife lived.
This particular house, located at 128 Lafayette Lane, sits on nearly an acre of wooded land, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows, a large heated patio with a hot tub off the master bedroom, another heated patio with a built-in grill, custom exterior stone work, a gazebo, carports and unique architectural details throughout.
The home spans over 2,800 square feet, with four bedrooms and three full baths and is priced at $820,000.
