Rudy
Age: 8 Years Old / Breed: Chihuahua / Sex: Male / Rescue: Lucky Tales Rescue
“Well, hello there! My name is Rudy. I'm a small guy who is roughly 8 years old and I'm not only housebroken but I'm crate trained, too. I love to eat and I also love to cuddle but I like to be the one who approaches others and I don't like being picked up. If you sit down, I'll jump right into your lap, though, so if you could please let me do things my own way, we'll get along great! I do well with other dogs but since I still have a bit of spunk, I'll chase cats (FYI - the cats I currently live with tolerate my occasional chase). Also, small children aren't for me and I really need to be with someone who has owned Chihuahuas and understands me and my kind.”

Blue
Age: 5 1/2 Years Old / Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue
“As you can see by his pictures, Blue is a very handsome boy. He's a 5 and 1/2 year old Australian Shepherd mix weighing in at 55 lb. What you can't see is that behind that beautiful face, Blue needs a special person. He is very slow to warm up to people and because of his past, and may never warm up to males. After a proper and slow introduction, Blue does very well with other dogs. New situations, new people, and new animals are often times overwhelming for this guy. Blue's new family needs to understand he may never easily transition to a new situation even if they do everything right, but once he trusts you, he's the most loving dog there is. After a lot of patience and baby steps, Blue has really come out of his shell at his foster home. He loves going on walks in quiet areas, the longer the walk the better! He's also a huge fan of just exploring the yard. He's great on car rides. Blue enjoys stuffed bones and lounging on the couch. Once you are nestled in on the couch, his very favorite thing is belly rubs!”

Ariel
Age: 10 Years Old / Breed: Tortoiseshell / Sex: Female / Rescue: Save the Animals Foundation
“With amber and gold flecks against a shiny black coat and beautiful gold eyes, Ariel looks like brocade tapestry. And don't you love those two white whiskers?! Abandoned outside STAF, she soon won the admiration of volunteers as one of the smartest cats among the hundreds at the shelter. Ariel has learned how to open doors, and she gleefully takes off running down the hall, so she wouldn't be a good fit for a home with small children. But if you enjoy a gorgeous cat that will play ball with you and keep you on your toes, Ariel is the one for you.”

Bianca
Age: Adult / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: Save the Animals Foundation
“This delightful social butterfly is ready for her debut! Bianca has it all: this gray and white kitty is not only beautiful but outgoing with every person she encounters, finds being held a treat, and loves to play up a storm. What more could you desire in a feline companion?
Bianca and her two kittens, Beatrix and Bentley, were brought to us at STAF by a couple that had found the adorable little family abandoned outside their home. Already social, these cats quickly won the hearts of many STAF volunteers. Bianca, however, was more enthusiastic about all the people who were fussing over her than she was about her kittens. This wonderful cat would love to be your be-all-and-end-all, so apply to adopt her today!”

Buddy
Age: 3 Years Old / Breed:German Shepherd Dog / Sex: Male / Rescue: Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue
“He’s a fairly laid back guy who loves relaxing at home with his family, playing in the backyard and going for car rides. He enjoys having other large dog friends and does a great job picking up on their energy level and adjusting his own to match. He’s fostered with large dogs and cats and has done well with everyone. Buddy has gone through a 2-week board and train program and is consistent with multiple commands in numerous environments, however, he has shown anxiety toward visitors in his home in the past. For that reason, Buddy needs a confident handler who has large breed experience and will take the time to build a relationship with him and provide clear boundaries so he knows what’s expected of him. He will require a home without children where he will be given several weeks to acclimate before being introduced to new people in and out of the home.”

Arabella
Age: About 3 Years Old / Breed: Australian Kelpie Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Save the Animals Foundation
“Good things can come out of something even as horrible as the coronavirus. Just ask any of our lucky shelter dogs who are being temporarily fostered in the homes of our huge-hearted volunteers. Miss Arabella, for one, is keeping busy and loving life. Here's what her foster mom has to say:
"She is one smart cookie!! Fully housebroken and so far not any signs of destructiveness. When we walk, she is alert to everything that moves (lizards, squirrels) and likes to bird watch. Very strong on leash, but listens when told to go easy. She sits (with wiggles) while I harness her and can give paw if asked. She is very excited to go out, but gets anxious and wants to go back in, heading straight for the door. I believe she is very fearful. She cowered and barked at a concrete statue and also at any loud noise. She needs to gain confidence and feel safe. She is a kisser as well. Jumps in your lap and lavishes you with kisses. Loves her Kong toy and a nylabone. Also likes to pick up sticks in the yard and bite them into pieces. She needs exercise as she is very high energy. Would do well with a large fenced yard to play in."

Charlie Brown
Age: Young / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Male / Rescue: Lucky Tales Rescue Inc.
“Good Grief, you want me to talk about myself? Ok ok, I suppose I can do that. You may look at me and think of a famous Charlie but, nope, I'm the OTHER famous Charlie. Charlie Brown and I'm about a year old.
I've come such a long way from my initial vet visit. I was a very sick, emaciated boy, as you can see from my picture, but just look at me now!! I've become a healthy, playful boy! My foster pawrent says that there are few times in animal rescue when the term “the perfect cat” is used. And whaddya know - this is one of those times! She says I'm the 'perfect cat.'"

Chicago
Age: About 2 Years Old / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: Save the Animals Foundation
“Like the Windy City, this spirited kitty came into STAF on a breeze! A volunteer arrived at the shelter early one blustery February morning to find a terrified cat in a carrier abandoned outside the door. Sadly, it became evident that Chicago had been someone’s pet, since she had been front-declawed in a previous home. We always wish a cat could tell us what they had been through. The one thing we can be sure of here is that Chicago did not have an easy time of things. When in the mood she is adorably playful and lively. But this poor girl has had a difficult time adjusting to the shelter as she is not fond of other cats and can become a little testy with people if cornered. She likes affection in short doses and gives clear signs when she is finished with her audience for the time being. Chicago needs adults who longs for the companionship of a rather feisty cat, understand feline signals and have the patience to both accept her and allow her to blossom at her own pace. Is Chicago your kind of town?”

Cricket
Age: Young / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: Crazy Cats Animal Rescue
“I'm not one of those boring 'vanilla' type of kittens - I'm a bit of a hybrid: feline with a little jumping bean. Birds gotta sing, fish gotta swim, I gotta jump. I'm playful, affectionate and love me some lap time. If you're interested in an active kitten who is very playful, energetic and sweet then let me pick you!”

Daniel
Age: Young / Breed: Labrador Retriever & Collie Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Save The Animals Foundation
“Dark and handsome, isn’t he? He also has a sweet, affectionate side, with those he's come to trust. But the Daniel who first arrived at our shelter didn’t appear to be very interested in making friends. We soon discovered that this very anxious boy responds well to the sight of a leash, treats (yum!) and the opportunity to play fetch in the yard.
A poster dog for rough starts in life, Daniel has been passed around the system—from a county shelter to a rescue group, through a couple very brief adoptions and back again—before landing at STAF. He has most definitely been hit with hands, objects or both in his past. He puts walls up with strangers (we’ve seen them!), but beneath that tough-guy exterior is a dog eager to feel safe and be loved. To get there, he needs a confident leader and structure.”

Age: 4 Years Old / Breed: Australian Cattle Dog & Blue Heeler / Sex: Male / Rescue: Stray Animal Adoption Program.
“Hi my name is Domino. I am a 4 year old heeler mix. I am high-energy, full of personality and a very active guy. I am not content with sitting around the house for hours on end and when I get bored you will be the first to know. I need slow introductions to other animals as well as other human friends. I am a big advocate of stranger danger but once I know you're nice I will be on your lap giving you lots of kisses! I sit for treats and love car rides.”

Esme
Age: 2 Years Old / Breed: Torbie & Domestic Short Hair Mix / Sex: Female / Rescue: Purrfect Friends
“Esme showed up at an animal lovers house and just would not leave! They had dogs and also cat allergies so could not take her in. She made herself at home and even let the toddler love on her!
We took her in and she is a sweet girl. She was likely fixed right before covid hit as she is ear tipped....probably part of a spay neuter release program. She would rather NOT be released as she loves people! She is fostered with other cats and does ok - but they are just not her thing.....people are MUCH better. She will talk to you for attention and roll over on her side for belly rubs. Life is Good, she says!”

Evan
Age: About 10 Months Old / Breed: Domestic Short Hair & Tabby Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Purrfect Friends
“Evan is a sweet cream & white tabby boy, around 10 months old. He's confused at being in yet another new place, so hasn't settled in yet at the petstore cage where he's being displayed. He allowed us to trim his nails and clean his ears and accepted some love and snuggles. Somehow, he & his brother, Franco, found themselves as strays, turned into an Indiana animal shelter; and then transferred to Purrfect Friends to help find a wonderful, loving new home.”

Hank
Age: About 9 months / Breed: Black and Tan Coonhound Mix / Sex: Male / Rescue: Save the Animals Foundation
“An owner-surrender to a high-kill shelter, this lovely Black and Tan was whipped out almost as soon as he came in. He was terribly sick, riddled with hookworms, and painfully thin and lethargic. You wouldn't know it to look at him today ... the picture of health!
Hank was 35lbs at last weigh in--but at well under a year (est. birthdate 12/19), the kid's got some growing yet to do. He loves other dogs and humans alike. We think he'll be oh so happy with a doggy sidekick, a fenced yard, and maybe a human kid or two for entertainment.”

Justice
Age: 1 Year Old / Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Sex: Male / Rescue: Furgotten Dog Rescue Inc.
“Justice is my name, and advocating for my animal rights is my game! I was rescued after a viral Facebook video showed my owners beating me with a hammer, crutch, and belt.
I am guessed to be a purebred APBT. I am 1-year-old with lots of puppy energy. I’m excellent on a leash and eager to please. I would do best with OLDER KIDS (9+).
I am dog-friendly and love playing with dogs my size. I would be too rough for most little dogs. NO CATS.”

Lee
Age: Senior / Breed: Domestic Short Hair / Sex: Female / Rescue: OAR
“Beautiful Lee is waiting for a home where she can settle in and have some space to feel safe! While she's a little unsure about new people, you'll know once she feels comfortable when you hear her purring like a train. She's a refined lady who prefers to sit next to her person while getting a thorough scratching on her head, chin, and neck. Her foster mom also reports that she even seemed to enjoy the classical piano music that she played! Lee wants nothing more than to be in a quiet home of her own (preferably with adults) with a nice routine, and she does well when you give her the space to seek out attention on her own terms. Contact us today to see if Lee could flourish in the quiet sanctuary of your home!”
