National Dog Day is Thursday, Aug. 26. Looking to add a furry new addition to your family in honor of the holiday? Cincinnati Animal CARE Humane Society, which recently took over Hamilton County's Northside shelter, is bursting at the seams with adoptable dogs who would love to share your home (and lap) with you.
The local animal welfare group recently took in 46 dogs from a Texas shelter that was about to have to start euthanizing animals for space. And those Texas puppies and small dogs will be joined by Cincinnati Animal CARE's additional 200+ adoptable dogs and cats at a "Puppypalooza" adoption event at Cincinnati Animal CARE's shelter in Northside this Saturday, Aug. 28 from noon-6 p.m.
All dogs who are over 6 months old and 30 pounds will cost $20, plus a Hamilton County licensing fee. Reduced dog adoption fees will be valid from noon Aug. 27 through 6 p.m. Aug. 29.
Cincinnati Animal CARE says this weekend will also be the first time they are opening the shelter's kennels for walkthroughs.
